Who we are
The European Union is represented in Bolivia by a Delegation in La Paz, which was established in 1995 and is responsible for the official relations with Bolivia. The Delegation works closely with all the EU Member States’ diplomatic missions represented in Bolivia.
What we do
The EU in Bolivia
The role of the Delegation is to promote the values and policies of the European Union, in an open and equal partnership with the Government and people of Bolivia; to implement development policies focussing on climate change and environment, sustainable development, counter-narcotics, poverty alleviation and promotion of democratic values, Human Rights and the Rule of Law. It also aims to deepen a political dialogue on all issues of mutual interest and to strengthening the partnership.
The key tasks of the Delegation are:
- To represent the European Union, as appropriate, in Bolivia.
- To enhance partnership and bilateral relations in the political, security, economic, commercial, environmental, social and cultural fields, including exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
- To inform the EU on all relevant developments in Bolivia.
To promote and protect the EU's interests and values and raise awareness of the EU and its policies.
Our Delegation
Our presence in Bolivia
The EU Delegation to Bolivia is comprised of four sections working under the Ambassador’s leadership:
- Political, Press and Information Section: In charge of Political Analysis, Public Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy.
- Development Cooperation Section: In charge of managing the EU Cooperation Programme to Bolivia.
- Finance, Contracts and Audit Section: In charge of Financial Management and Contract Monitoring for the Development Programmes.
- Administration Section: In charge of managing human resources and assets for the EU Delegation.
