About the Ambassador
Of Belgian nationality and historian by training, Mr. Stéphane Mund holds a PhD in Philosophy & Letters from the University in the City of Brussels. A career diplomat, he was posted in Tallinn, Islamabad, Kabul and Kinshasa (2007-2017) before becoming Diplomatic Advisor to Prime Ministers Charles Michel (2017-2019) and Sophie Wilmès (2019-2020). Before arriving in Benin, he was Belgian Ambassador to the Political and Security Committee of the European Union (PSC) from 2020 to 2024. On September 1sr 2024, he took up his duties as Ambassador of the European Union to Benin.
