Tunisia Investment Forum Tunisia: a strategic platform for successful investment and partnership
The 21st edition of the Tunisia Investment Forum (TIF) will be held on 12 and 13 June 2024 under the theme "Tunisia, where sustainability meets opportunity", at the initiative of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia), under the aegis of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and in partnership with the European Union.
The Forum will be opened by the Head of Government, Mr. Ahmed Hachani, and senior representatives of the European institutions, in the presence of members of the government, business-people and Tunisian and foreign economic stakeholders. Representatives of the European Financial Institutions
and international experts from the business, investment and banking sectors, will also participate, together with representatives from the private sector, relevant ministries and public bodies.
This Forum comes at a pivotal moment when Tunisia is returning to stability and improving its economic and financial indicators, despite the challenges of the global economic and geopolitical context, the worsening of the negative impacts of climate change, particularly on the agricultural sector and water resources.
This 21st session of the TIF will be an opportunity to present the reforms implemented and being prepared by the Tunisian government in order to revitalise the economy, boost investment and improve the business climate as part of the national reform programme.
This special edition entitled ‘EU-Tunisia Business Forum’ will also be an opportunity to highlight the relevance, strength and depth of Tunisia’s partnership with the EU, its Member States, their technical and financial cooperation agencies and the EIB and EBRD multilateral development banks.
This session will also be an opportunity to highlight Tunisia's competitive advantages as a destination and strategic platform for investment and win-win partnerships, particularly in high value-added growth sectors, and to present the opportunities available, particularly in the field of the green economy, renewable energies, pharmaceutical industries, automotive components and innovation.
The first day of the Forum will be marked by the presentation of the TIF 2024 Awards to foreign investors for their remarkable efforts to support Tunisia's growth and economic development, and by the launch of the Team Europe Initiative for Investment aimed at encouraging public and private investment in Tunisia.
The second day of the Forum will be devoted to the prospects of foreign direct investment for sustainable development. The first session will be chaired by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Ms Féryel Ouerghi Sebaï, and will address the theme of economic recovery and the promotion of foreign investment, while highlighting the various incentives and development programmes that have been undertaken to this end.
Sustainability as a key to competitiveness in Tunisia will be the theme of the second session, which will be divided into two parts: A first part, chaired by the Minister of the Environment, Ms Leila Chikhaoui Mahdaoui, will address new investment opportunities promoting sustainable development and clean and green supply chains.
The second part will be chaired by the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, with the participation of senior EU representatives. It will focus on the close cooperation between Tunisia and the European Union in the energy transition by presenting flagship projects such as the Italy-Tunisia electricity interconnection project ‘ELMED’. The session will conclude with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on energy between Tunisia and the EU.
For the continuation of this second day of the forum, four parallel sessions on i) automotive components, ii) pharmaceutical industries, iii) renewable energy and iv) startups & the diaspora, will be organized as well as bilateral meetings (B2B) between local investors and their foreign counterparts to discuss partnership opportunities.
Finally, a third and final plenary session will complement the event to present the European Union's Global Gateway strategy, the financial tools of the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework "Global Europe" associated with it, and illustrate how these instruments promote the mobilisation of investment towards more sustainable growth and sustainable growth.
More than 1000 participants are expected to attend this international event, including Tunisian and foreign investors from 30 countries.
